MacSpeedZone's 5.0 Comparison Generator: Compare, On The Fly, The Performance of Current Apple Macintosh Computers To Older Ones
Note: this page is no longer being updated
Welcome to the MacSpeedZone's MacBench 5.0 Comparison
Generator. To use the generator, simply select one machine from each column
and compare the scores above. MacBench 5.0 is a subsystem-level benchmark
that measures the performance of a Mac's processor, disk, and graphics subsystems
to name a few. MacBench normalizes all scores relative to the base machine,
a Power Macintosh G3/300. The base machine receives a score of 1000. For all
MacBench tests, higher numbers mean better performance. For more detailed
information on MacBench click here. We also
have a Processor
Comparison Generator where you can compare the performance of most shipping
CPU upgrades to your Mac. To get the the front page of MacSpeedZone click
here Note: MacBench 5.0 does not take advantage of the AltiVec
instructions of the G4 Machines. Testing we have done shows up to a 5 times
increase in performance for G4 Machines running AltiVec ready applications
over a similar clocked G3. The G4 scores below will not reflect this.
