The graphs below represent a performance comparison
between currently shipping and recent Power Mac models.
For older results click
here. Testing was done using MacBench 5.0
with results supplied by Macworld, other online resources
as well as our own testing. MacBench profiles popular software
programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Word and QuarkXpress among
a variety of others and applies these profiles to the various
subsystems being tested. Visit the MacBench web
site for in depth information on the program. Scores
are relative to a Pre-Yosemite G3/300 which is assigned
a score of 1000. Longer bars equals faster performance.
Performance results for new models will be added to this
page as they become available.Keep in mind when comparing
results that they can only be accurately compared to results
from the same version of MacBench. You cannot compare 5.0
results to 4.0 results etc. Note: MacBench 5.0 is not AltiVec
enabled, to take advantage of the G4 processor. Our testing
has shown that for AltiVec enabled software you will see
anywhere from a 3 to 5 times speed improvement. See our
G4 processor reviews
for more detailed information.

We intentionally left the G4/450 MP graphics
score off this chart as it was abnormally low, 687 to be
precise. We will retest on another machine when we can get
our hands on one. We are puzzled by the low score as the
graphics chip (ATI RAGE 128) is the same. Perhaps the new
ADC connector is to blame...
