Product Watch: New Software Adds Features to XLR8's USB Video Capture Hardware

XLR8

Recently at MacWorld SF, XLR8 unveiled an update to their award winning USB video capture hardware/software InterView. The update, dubbed InterView 2.0 by XLR8, is actually a software update, the hardware remains unchanged.

The original InterView software package included Strata's VideoShop for importing and editing video clips, TuneBuilder for creating soundtracks and Web Cleaner for preparing your finished project for the web. InterView 2.0 sports this same software with a few improvements:

  • Compatibility with Adobe Premiere, Sorenson Broadcaster, and many other standard video and webcasting packages.
  • Additional Internet capabilities, including Quicktime streaming, and webcasting.
  • File sizes that that are 1/5 the size of normal QuickTime files.
  • "XLR8 Theater" software that allows any USB PowerMac or iMac to play full screen video direct from any VCR, DVD, or satellite tuner.

InterView 2.0 is due out next month (February) and, like the original, will be available on its own or bundled with XLR8's USB adapter for PCI based machines. XLR8 has taken steps to help clear remaining stock of the original InterView package, dropping its price and offering a free upgrade to InterView 2.0.
