Cannon BJC-6000 BubbleJet Printer
Cannon's BJC-6000 BubbleJet printer is aimed at the small
office and home office markets. It combines fast print speeds,
high resolution color and sharp text output. Its unique individual
ink tank system can save you money on consumables over the
long-haul.
Cannon claims that this Bubble Jet printer will deliver up
to 5 pages per minute for high-quality color printing and
up to 8 pages per minute during monochrome output. The BJC-6000
is capable of 1440 x 720 resolution giving fine detail prints.
"Today's printer users are looking first for speed and quality
of output from their ink jet printers. Then, if they need
to do a lot of color and photo-quality printing, their next
big consideration is cost of operation. The BJC-6000 is unbeatable

The BJC-6000's individual ink tank system allows the user
to only replace the color that has run out without sacrificing
the leftover ink from other colors. Ink quantity in all individual
tanks is monitored by an optical low-ink sensor that warns
users (via a pop-up on-screen icon), when the supply of any
color ink is low - this way you will not waste ink on partial
pages. Cannon claims that this optical method of determining
remaining ink is more accurate than other methods currently
in use, which attempt to count the amount of ink used by monitoring
flow.
Prints speeds for monochrome, color and Photo Ink have been
increased as a result of a new printhead design that includes:
160 ink nozzles - 25 percent more than previous Bubble Jet
models - in the high-speed monochrome BC-30 printhead; and
144 nozzles in color and Photo Ink cartridges, BC-31 and BC-32,
respectively - twice as many as in earlier color printheads.
In
terms of 1440 dpi color output quality, PhotoRealism is optimized
by Canon's Drop Modulation Technology, an advancement in Bubble
Jet technology that allows the printhead to create both regular
and half-size ink drops in the same scan line, using the same
printhead. This provides greater tonal expression and a smoother
transition between colors for photo-realistic color output.
An optional Photo Ink cartridge (BC-32) uses low density
inks, which, when coupled with the standard BC-31 color ink
cartridge included with the printer provide high resolution,
photo-quality printing.
The BJC-6000 works only with a USB capable Mac and requires
the purchase of a USB adapter Kit.
Macworld's review
gave the Cannon 4 mice out of a possible 5 and said this about
the printer - "All of the printers reviewed here offer
excellent output quality, so the decision boils down to what
you want to do with them. .....For small businesses, the versatility
and large ink supply of Canon's BJC-6000 make for a winning
combination"
